The regatta is named in memory of Susan McAnna, whose contribution to NSW RC sailing left a lasting impact on the sport. Susan served as Secretary of the NSW Radio Yacht Association for a number of years and was a familiar and trusted presence managing scoring at many events across the state. Her professionalism, organisation and dedication helped ensure countless regattas ran smoothly, and her work behind the scenes became an integral part of the NSW sailing community.

The Memorial Trophy stands as a lasting tribute to that commitment. Each year, sailors gather not only to compete, but also to acknowledge the service and effort that underpin the sport at every level.

On the water, the racing promises to be of the highest standard. The International One Metre class continues to set the benchmark for tactical, close-quarters competition in radio sailing. Kogarah Bay’s protected yet challenging conditions reward sharp decision-making, disciplined boat handling and strategic positioning. At the conclusion of racing, the Susan McAnna Memorial Trophy will be presented to the highest placed skipper who has not previously won the award.
