2025 South Australian DF95 State Championships

Aug 25, 2025

The Adelaide Radio Control Yacht Racing Club hosted the 2025 DF95 State Titles on 24 August 2025 at Harts Mill.   The forecast was looking a bit doubtful, with a Northeasterly in the morning which could easily have dropped out to nothing.  However, the breeze held in all day in a consistent direction in comfortable A rig conditions.  This meant course changes were only minor and the committee managed to fit in a massive 21 races for the day.

Early results were mixed with the top-7 boats all spending time at the front of the fleet.  The early running leading into the lunch break saw the eventual top-3 boats start to dominate.  In particular, Neil How and John Wyatt were trading wins and looking to be in a tussle for top spot.

After lunch and later in the day the breeze softened.  Simon How managed to master the fading conditions the best and finished off the afternoon strongly to end up with a comfortable winning margin ahead of John and Neil.  Tony White showed some late form, but inconsistent results earlier in the today kept him off the podium.

All around it was a near perfect day of sailing skilfully guided by the experienced race committee of Alex Hayter and Brett Osborn.  Many thanks also to Graham Ingerson, Tim Arland and Steve Arthur for keeping track of the competitors and the scores.  Hopefully we can see more of the excellent racing continue with the upcoming 2025 DF95 and DF65 Nationals at the same venue at the end of September.
