Aussies Set to Tackle the 2025 Marblehead & Ten Rater World Championships in France
With only a few days remaining until the 2025 Marblehead and Ten Rater World Championships kick off in France, a trio of Aussie sailors have packed their boats—and their passports—and headed to the other side of the world for a bit of high-calibre racing and world-class camaraderie.
The championship will see the Ten Raters hit the water from 27–29 April, followed by the Marblehead class from 30 April to 4 May, hosted by Club Nautique Saint-Hilaire. And while the global fleet prepares for intense competition, Team Australia brings a fine blend of experience, talent, and enthusiasm.
Leading the charge is none other than the statesman of the group—our very own Grand Master—David Thomas, more affectionately known as Yoda. Yoda has been a familiar and friendly face at more World Championships than most of us can count. He brings not only seasoned skill but a deep love of the sport’s social fabric, always relishing the chance to reconnect with long-time friends from across the globe. David will compete with his Red Ant-designed F6 Marblehead and his newest Blade-design Ten Rater.
Joining him are two newcomers to the World Championships in the M & 10R classes, but both bring serious form to the international stage.
Scott Condie, current and multiple-time Australian Champion in both classes, has been a dominant force over the past five years. With a cabinet full of state and national titles, Scott now sets his sights on a top-10 finish on the world stage. He’ll be sailing two of the finest boats in the business—the Brad Gibson-designed Grunge Marblehead and the Trance Ten Rater.
Rounding out the team is Rob Nowak, who will make his world championship debut. Over the past 15 months, Rob has been on a mission, travelling across the country to compete and hone his racing skills. His dedication and determination have paid off, earning him a spot among the nation's elite. Rob, too, will be sailing the Grunge Marblehead and Trance Ten Rater.
We extend our best wishes and smooth sailing to David, Scott, and Rob as they take on the world’s best. Here’s hoping to see some Aussie names at the top of those leaderboards in France!
