SA DF95 State Championship
A fleet of nineteen boats competed in the 2024 SA DF95 State Championship at Harts Mill, Port Adelaide over the weekend of 23-24 November and including competitors from Tasmania, New South Wales, Victoria and the home state, South Australia.
Saturday Morning started out A rigs and light... Small sprinkle of rain and some breeze got skippers onto B rigs, stronger breeze was the feature through the middle with some rain skippers elected to stay on B rigs while thinking of Cs.
Then the later afternoon breeze softened for skippers to get on their A rigs while the rains held out in the late afternoon making for an awesome day of racing.
Conditions were such that a total of fifteen heats were sailed on day one.
Sunday started out with an hour of glass. The skippers took it apon themselves to distribute some knowledge between competitors, the stronger skippers helped tune and discuss elements with the newer skippers while the conditions were un-cooperative. Eventually the breeze filled in from the west and racing was resumed. That breeze eventually started to clock to the traditional south west, early lunch was called while the course was moved.
The southwest breeze remained for the rest of the event; giving the skippers champagne sailing with plenty to play for on the track using their A-Rigs.
2024 DF95 South Australian State champion was crowned!
