Two Paradox Place in Top Three at NSW Marblehead Title

Oct 29, 2020

The twenty plus year old boats still show that they can place well as shown in the 2020 Marblehead Class State Championship at Kogarah Bay on 24-25 October.

With the weather pattern for the weekend not looking great, 11 competitors turned up to support the Marblehead class.

It was good to see Steve Sedgmen, Gordon Maguire and Paul Jones turn up in their Paradox’ to see how they went.

As the racing started it was good to see the old designs were still fast and very competitive.

Swing rigs only lasted for 2 races before most went to B rig.

Racing was close all day, and with 15 races in the bag, we decided to finish a little early due to the inclement weather J

2020_nsw_m_statesWith Scott Condie leading at stumps day 1 in his Grunge we retired to the Bowling club where everyone enjoyed the Chinese food and refreshments.

Day 2 and the Black Southerly was in and with 90% chance of rain, we were sceptical we could get much racing in.

C3 and lower were definitely needed and everyone’s boat and rigs were certainly tested

Jonesy’s smallest Paradox rig hasn’t been used in 25 Years!!!!!!

Turns out the rain held off for most of the day and the same guys as day 1, were up the front battling it out.

It was great to see Andy Holly have a crack and Gordon for his resilience J

It was decided, due to the rain setting in and the proper Grand Final being on, we’d let those who had travelled the most, get home to dry out

A big thanks to all who competed. You helped the class grow by simply being there!!!!

To our volunteers… Thank You! PRO, Allen Roberts and the team were great including Tex, Terry, Ron, Neil and OJ

Also a big thanks to Kogarah Bay Sailing Club for allowing us to utilise the Clubs amenities.
